So far, I have used the computer for about 4 days now and it has been excellent. It plays and edits 1080p video without an issue, GTA IV runs extremely smooth. With the quad core i7 processor and 12gbs of RAM this computer is a beast. The built in Wifi is good too, many usb 2.0 and 3.0 ports, hdmi, vga adapter for standard def…this is an amazing Dell computer. Multi-tasking is no trouble at all, and it runs very quiet. It did not come with any junkware so that was awesome. Set up was generally quick.

I was a die hard Windows fan until January of 2007 when I made the mistake of purchasing Windows Vista on a Dell laptop. I was so infuriated by the endless computer crashes and software hangups that I switched to Apple and my first Macbook. Since then I have purchased a Macbook Pro and two iMacs. Whomever at Microsoft gave Vista the OK for mass distribution should have been fired. My last computer purchase was a 24 inch iMac in 2009. Well I hadn’t even considered purchasing a Windows computer until two months ago. I loaded Windows 7 on my iMac and was blown away. I loved it. I decided to return to Windows all the way. This Dell computer that I now own is exceptional. The device is LIGHTNING FAST with the i7 processor and 8 GB of RAM. I will soon purchase a 16 GB module to take the total RAM to 24 GB. Why? Simply because RAM is so cheap now. Crucial.com offers a 16 GB module for $125. I also purchased the AOC i2757 monitor and it too is fabulous. I also added the Logitech K800 Illuminated keyboard and a Logitech wireless mouse. I could not be happier. Now some are unhappy that Windows 8 does not offer a start button, but really, who needs it? If you MUST have a start button, purchase Stardock’s Start 8 and you will have one, but again, what’s the point? Simply press the Windows Key and BAM you are taken to Windows 8 and the new Start Screen which is essentially the Start Menu in GIANT form. I spend next to ZERO time on the Start Screen. I prefer to meander around the Desktop Screen. You can pin virtually any app or website to the taskbar. It is very simple. Also, if you MUST use the few GREAT Metro apps available in the Start Screen, you can also pin them to the Taskbar, IF and ONLY IF you purchase another GREAT app from Stardock. The app is called Modern Mix. Like Start 8 it costs $5. Back to this system. To make a long story short, it is LIGHTNING fast, apps open INSTANTLY and I have no complaints whatsoever. This is my first Windows system since very early 2007 and I am truly glad o be back in the Windows family. Apple computers are very nice looking with their all aluminum construction. But the real question is this. Is the Mountain Lion OS more stable than, or more customizable than Windows 7 or 8? Absolutely not. Apple computers are AT LEAST 40-50% OVER PRICED and not worth the investment. I am glad I left the Apple family. I wont be going back. I AM THRILLED WITH THIS PURCHASE. So too will you be! Have no fear! BUY THIS SYSTEM! IT IS A STEAL!

Everything is working fine. I mainly use it for Lightroom 4. Got it hooked up to my HDTV using the HDMI port. Played Black Ops 2 the other night (Steam had it for free over the weekend). It looked way better than console (I’ve never played a game on PC, other than Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 back in the day). I had to set the game setting to Medium in order for everything to run smoothly. My only grip about this product, although I blame the shipping people, is when I opened it I found a chip of wood jammed in the front grill of the tower. It was jammed in there good, too. Pretty sure I got most of it out, lol. But, I have no idea why there was a wood chip stuck in my computer.. Unless that’s some new computer chip from Intel that I’m unaware of.

I use my computers for business. I’ve had a dell for many years, but it was really outdated and I needed a more powerful computer. I need to use multiple applications at one time, and my computer was really slow compared to what’s available now, and it crashing easily if I had too much open at one time.

I’m a fan of Dell. I’ve found their computers to be really reliable, and the service good. I’m really thrilled with this new purchase. It’s fast and I’ve been able to open and use many applications at one time. The speed is staying consistently good. Once in a while when I have too many screens open on Safari I start having problems with it (the Safari screen goes black), and I need to close down Safari and re-open. I think that may be a Safari thing though, since it doesn’t happen with Explorer, Chrome or Firefox.

I paired the Dell with a Samsung 27 inch screen, and it allows me to view several screens at one time, so I can work on multiple applications together.

So I’d definitely recommend Dell and this particular computer to anyone who needs it for business.

I have had issues with this computer since i bought it. The internet has issues connecting a lot of the time, and windows 8 is extremely frustrating. The computer also freezes up and don't open up applications when I click on them. I've had to end processes multiple times for it to work.

The norton that was installed on the computer was awful, it blocked everything but never gave me the option to "trust site" or "download anyway" so programs I needed I couldn't download. It is also awful when it comes to adds, I constantly have pop ups on the computer both while on the internet, and random popups to "Backup" my computer. I have tried to reach Amazon to see what to do about this but have not received a response. Very disappointed in the computer as i spend a lot of money one it.

Let me be clear - I own an HP Envy series computer (actually I bought two of them for my business).
Believe the reviews that say "this is a slow computer"!!
Because it is an exasperatingly slow computer!
And I even purchased the upgrade 12 GB of RAM and it is still very slow.
My recommendation (based on 7 months of experience now) - stay away from all HP Envy series computers - they are very slow.

I checked four other sales sources for this computer and ALL were featuring significantly lower prices (as much as $100) than Amazon for exactly the same machine.
I also found this to be true last week when pricing a laptop. I was under the illusion Amazon offered the best prices--but apparently not, at least for computers.
Buyer beware!
Also, I currently own an HP but would be hard pressed to buy another one. The machine is OK but customer service and tech support are disasters. Customer beware.

I have nothing but good things to say about this desktop computer.Having upgraded from a relatively (at the time of purchase) state-of-the-art custom machine using Windows XP I found this Dell XPS X8500 to be like night and day in comparison.The larger capacity Hard drive and "instant on" boot up made me feel a lot better about turning on the machine when "getting the job done now" was/is an issue. My only complaint lies with the learning curve in transitioning from XP to WINDOWS 8.I'm getting better after some three months of practice I still curse a bit at trying to navigate through things which used to be easy and now take several guesses at a solution before I get it right. Only time or a system update fix will change my attitude toward this feature of the machine.
All that said, I'm not disappointed at my choice to purchase.

I am still getting use to Windows 8.The Dell itself is great.My knowledge of computers and programs tends to be the basics.So I had difficulty with downloading pictures and figuring out how to print.It seems to go back to Windows 8 and the workings of Microsoft.Coming from a computer with XP, this computer was way different than what I expected.I might be doing things a little wrong, but I have figured out how to print and do pictures.The mail was a little difficult at first, but that too is figured out.It is not noisy.It setup fast.It seemed to slow down at startup if I put too much on the startup page.SoI took them off and it worked fine.It has convenient USP ports.The computer is good for what I need and I would recommend it to anyone.
